This week’s topic is the Top Ten Things That Will Make Me Instantly Want To Read A Book
- Written in Verse
I’m a HUGE fan of poetry. I can’t really get enough of it. So magine my joy when I find full fledged novels written in verse!
I haven’t read many of these books but the ones I have, I absolutely adore.
- Written by Pepper Winters or Jennifer Armentrout
These are two of my all time favourite authors. They have two incredibly different styles of writing and yet, I’ve fallen in love with both of them equally. I’d pretty much read any book they write.
- Fairytale Retellings
Classic fairytales with a modern twist, or a twist of any kind, always call out to me. I especially love retellings of Beauty and the Beast. Also Cinderella. I just love fairytales.
- Dysfunctional Families
I’m really not sure why I’m attracted to this genre.. I just am. Maybe it just makes me feel good about my own family XD
- Breathtaking Covers
I can’t resist an absolutely gorgeous or intriguing book cover. Even if the synopsis of the book isn’t all that good, I’ll somehow find a way to convince myself that I like it. Just for the cover.
- Books with kidnapping
I love reading books with kidnapping. I love to see how the captives hold their own and how they fight through their captivity and how they SURVIVE. Another thing I love about this theme is stockholm syndrome!
- Reincrnation
I find it fascinating to read about reincarnation. I enjoy witnessing how the charcters’ past lives entwertwine with their present lives and how the events of their previous lives affects their current life. I also love how each character comes to deal with it in his/her own personal way.
- Mental Illnesses
Anxiety, depression, suicide etc. are very real issues affecting millions of people, especially young adults. Books dealing with these subjects are extremely important because I feel that they support those struggling from these issues in reality. They get to know that they’re not alone and often, these books also offer a solution. They encourage people to seek help. There can never be enough books about mental llnesses.
- Gut wrenchers
They say that some book will surely make you cry? Sign me up!
There’s nothing like crying your heart out over a book. Nothing.
- Taboo Romance
Forbidden fruit is always tempting.
I completely agree about books with mental illness. Those are my absolute favorite kinds of books to read ❤ I don't know why but I love reading about a character struggling and overcoming something. It gives me hope for myself. Have you read Forbidden!? That is one of my ALLLLL time favorite books ❤

I love reading about characters overcoming something too. It really brings out the fierceness and drive of human nature and I love that.
And I’ve read each and every one of the books up there. I actually read forbidden just a couple of days ago and it’s secured a place in my all time favourites too! I’m actually really lucky that none of my tears fell on the pages of the book XD
But really, so many tears

I love reading books that make me cry, too. It’s been a while since I read a good gut wrencher. Happy reading!

I’d love to know if you have any suggestions for me. What was the last book that really made you cry?

Interestingly, The Crossover by Kwame Alexander did. The Hate U Given and All-American Boys did (esp the audio). They’re just intense, and there are so many parts of the stories that remind me of my life or the fears I have for my brothers.

The crossover.. That’s a novel written in verse, isn’t it? I read about that. I’ve been meaning to buy it for a while now and you saying that it made you cry just makes me want to buy it more 😛
The other two I’ve never heard about. I’ll go check them out right now! 😀
Thanks

It is a novel in verse. And it’s one of the first I recommend to my readers who want to read about basketball. I’d love to hear what you think when you’re done.

Nicely written. Even many of us are actually swayed by the cover of books. If it is interesting, one would probably take it up. All the best with blogging. And do visit my blog http://www.adarshbadri.com/blog
